TECHNOLOGY

Dentistry, like all other sciences, hasn’t stopped evolving. During the last decades, the dental world has been revolutionized by medical and technological advances. We try to use all the latest technology available to help our patients have the most enjoyable dental experience possible.

CariVu – Caries Detection Device

A brilliant new approach to discovering caries and cracks.
DEXIS CariVu™ is a detection device that uses patented transillumination technology to support the identification of occlusal, interproximal and recurrent carious lesions and cracks.

By hugging the tooth and bathing it in safe, near-infrared light, CariVu’s transillumination technology makes the enamel appear transparent while porous lesions trap and absorb the light. This unique caries detector allows the clinician to see through the tooth exposing its structure and the actual structure of any carious lesions with very high accuracy.

RADIOGRAPHY

Since 2001, we have switched to digital radiography. This system allows us to get an immediate rendering on the computer screen, better quality and definition, and a 90% reduction in patient radiation (compared to traditional radiography). Furthermore, we do not need any chemical solutions for image development, which enables us to reduce our environmental impact.

ORTHODONTICS

Since early 2011, we use the Insignia system which allows us to accelerate the processing time by installing individualized orthodontic brackets and wires. Imagine a 3D virtual model of your teeth where the dentist can move each tooth individually in three-dimensions to get the desired result. It is a system that allows precise control of early orthodontic treatments until the end to maximize the effectiveness of the treatments. The ideal occlusion of each patient is modeled in a 3D virtual program which then makes it possible to manufacture brackets and wires tailored to the planned final position of the teeth determined by the dentist. With its computer-aided bracket placement system, this new revolutionary process allows a more beautiful finish and requires fewer adjustments (and therefore fewer visits) during the treatment.

INTRA-ORAL CAMERA

To allow a better visualization of their dental condition, patients can now see their teeth on a screen with a magnification of 20X to fully appreciate the details, given that a picture is worth a thousand words.

SOFT TISSU LASER

Lasers on the gums have been used since 1990. The soft tissu laser is used in place of electrosurgery and standard surgery for soft tissue applications such as tissue contouring and gingivectomy and frenectomy, we also use it after curettage to help with the healing process. Lasers decrease morbidity after surgery and reduce the need for anesthetics.

ORAL CANCER DETECTION

The VELscope is the most powerful tool available for assisting in the discovery of oral abnormalities. The VELscope's distinctive blue-spectrum light causes the soft tissues of the mouth to naturally fluoresce. Healthy tissues fluoresce in distinctive patterns — patterns that are visibly disrupted by trauma or disease. Using the VELscope, a wide variety of oral abnormalities can be discovered — often before they're visible to the unassisted eye. Discovering soft tissue abnormalities is particularly important in the fight against oral cancer. Because the VELscope Vx assists in early detection, cancer can be caught before it has time to spread, potentially saving lives through less invasive, more effective treatment.
